About Us
Dedicated to local arts and
entertainment around the
Tri-Cities region since 1986.
The first Loafer magazine was published on May 1, 1987 in Johnson City, TN under the name “The Creative Loafer.” The original founder of The Loafer was Mr. Bill Williams who founded the print publication with the intention to be a bi-weekly publication, rather than the weekly publication it is today. The Loafer’s by-line has always been to be “the leisure guide to arts and entertainment,” and this remains The Loafer’s main purpose still today.

Back in 2013, the Loafer was purchased by Luci Tate, who continued the legacy until 2018 when Kim Santucci of Market Innovations assumed ownership. In September of 2021, Managing Editor, Lisa Durbin purchased The Loafer with a renewed focus on the hometown people and places of the ever-growing Tri-CIties.
Our mission is to expand the reach of the printed issues of The Loafer along with improved digital version, a new interactive website and a growing social media presence. The Loafer will continue to be the most reliable source for events and entertainment in the Tri-Cities-Cities and surrounding areas.

As we look forward to our 35th Anniversary in 2022, The Loafer looks forward to sharing our Tri-Cities with you.
You’re gonna love it!!
